It’s a very special election night memorial-celebration for our favorite curmudgeon and the best guy to talk politics with…

Dave Berman

Tuesday, November 6th (Election Day)

7–9pm at the Black Cat, backstage

1811 14th Street, NW (between S & T)
Washington, DC 20009

b: December 27, 1961

d: August 6, 2018

7:00pm  Memorial starts. Please try to be on time in order to avoid waiting in line with the kids going to the mainstage show.

8:00pm  The Sharing of the Stories. Everyone’s got a great memory of Dave, please share yours.

9:00pm  Dave’s personally requested final song: Marquee Moon by Television. Kleenex required.

Dave’s favorite activity in life was reading, watching and talking about, the news (especially political news). And his only regret in life was not living long enough to see Democrats regain the House (oh please!) and Trump removed from office, one way or the other. For that reason, and because the Black Cat is set to roll out a big revamp in early 2019, I needed to move the date of his memorial up from 12/27 to 11/6, which was always my alternate date.

The backstage of the Black Cat has been reserved for the night and there'll be a microphone set up in hope that people will share their favorite memory or “Dave story.” There'll also be a great looping slideshow of photos set to a Dave-soundtrack. I'm having a t-shirt give-away of his most hilariously offensive t-shirts, along with some extremely cool band shirts. In true Berman form, this memorial-celebration should be the most interesting and strange memorial you’ll ever attend.

Dave himself will be there—in his current form—and he'd like to buy you all a drink.
I'm still working on the logistics of that offer, but rest assured, there’ll be some kind of free alcohol that night. Possibly food, pot luck snack food.

Please help me get the word out to the many people whose contact information I don’t have. Anyone who wishes to is welcome to attend.

I'm having a small after-memorial party back at 2013 New Hampshire Avenue at about 9:30pm. I have few things that Dave left me to share. Let me know if you're interested ’cuz there’s limited space in #711.
